The Newport Pearls

The Newport Pearls are the premier all-female acapella group created in 2005 at Christopher Newport University. Since then, the ladies of the Pearls have made a name for themselves in the collegiate a cappella world. This "singing sisterhood" performs a variety of different styles, but mainly pop jams and country hits. They can be seen performing on and off of CNU's campus at events like CNU's Glow in the Darcappella, CNU’s Women’s Leadership Summit, and Relay for Life. Their newest accomplishment includes the April 2022 album release of Stranded, and they are so excited to start recording their next album soon. Check out The Pearls' social media accounts, website, or email if you'd like to connect with them!

Take Note

Take Note is a competitive all-treble voices A Cappella group at Christopher Newport University. Founded in 2010, Take Note has united students from every corner of campus with their shared passion for music with an emphasis on empowering and uplifting female and LGBTQ+ singers. In attempts to deconstruct the binary of music however they can, Take Note performs a wide range of music from various genres and artists. Amplifying the voices of its members, Take Note prides itself on its versatility and willingness to learn. They are driven by their desire to evolve as musicians and to connect with anyone willing to listen to them sing. Over the course of the COVID-19 pandemic, Take Note has adopted the mindset that change is an opportunity to broaden their repertoire and learn to adapt to that which is out of their control. Take Note participates in CNU’s Glow in the Darcapella event annually with the other on-campus acapella groups as well as several other events in the area and otherwise, making sure that their presence is seen and heard as much as possible. To make music is an incredible opportunity to build empowered, confident individuals and an apt way to enrich the collegiate experience. Take Note are not only a spirited group of musicians, but also fierce friends and harbingers of musical excellence.

Extreme Measures

Extreme Measures is a co-ed a Cappella group that seeks to allow students an area to come to have fun and enjoy making music, build relationships with other members and the community as a whole, and also join a competitive a Cappella environment. We strive to make music in an enjoyable way but also to the best of our abilities. We perform around campus at different events for enjoyable performance opportunities, but also travel and compete to allow a higher level of preparation and build a sense of accomplishment in success.

Trebled Youth

Trebled Youth was established in 2011 and is the second youngest a cappella group on campus. We are also the second mixed a cappella group to be formed. We perform throughout the year on campus and at other community events. Our music style is a wide range, and we love putting together arrangements for different genres. Want to know more about what it means to be Trebled, or are you interested in auditioning? Email us at trebledyouthcnu2011@gmail.com :)
